The medical school will welcome Harry Schroeder, вÊÍø, PhD, in April as the featured speakerÌýfor Seminars in Investigative Medicine.
Dr. Schroeder's presentation, titled "Pre-immune antigen receptor repertoires are products of pre-determination, i.e, the immune system is partly Presbyterian," is scheduled for noon to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, April 13, 2022, at the W.E. Upjohn M.D. Campus in downtown Kalamazoo.Ìý

Dr. Schroeder is a professor of Medicine, Microbiology, and Genetics in theÌýDivision of Clinical Immunology and Rheumatology and director of the program in Immunology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
Dr. Schroeder's research focuses on the development of the human antibody repertoire. He has mappedÌýthe linkage of human VH, DH and JH region gene segments and characterization of the CDR-H3 repertoire in early B cell progenitors, and assessed the role of the germline in directing the content of pre-immune repertoires and subsequent responses to antigens, including epitope selection. His research also focuses on the role of immunoglobulin CDR-H3 in autoimmune diseases.
