WMed AAMC Student-Athlete Conference
The 2021 WMed and AAMC High School and College Student-Athlete Medicine and Healthcare Career Conference is scheduled for June 2-3, 2021.

The Office of Diversity and Inclusiveness at WMedis partnering with the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) for a virtual event in June that will highlight how former student-athletes have adapted their skills in sports to become competitive healthcare professionals off the field.

The 2021 WMed and AAMC High School and College Student-Athlete Medicine and Healthcare Career Conference is scheduled for June 2-3, 2021. The theme of the conference, “Helping Student Athletes Transition from an Athletic Team to a Healthcare Professional Team,” will focus awareness on how former student-athletes have adapted their athletic skills to become competitive pre-medical students, medical students, healthcare professionals, physicians, and practitioners.

The event is open to a wide range of students, from rising eighth graders to college seniors. The conference will also empower high school guidance counselors, academic career advisors, and student-athlete development professionals to equip learners to be competitive pre-medical students, medical school applicants, and healthcare professionals.

During the two-day conference, informative sessions will be held each day from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and there will be keynote addresses from Abdullah Hasan Pratt, ², assistant professor and an Emergency Medicine physician at the University of Chicago Medical Center, as well as Erica Tukiainen, ², MPH, junior faculty in the Department of Family Medicine at the Los Angeles Medical Center at Kaiser Permanente.

The conference will also feature a $50 Amazon gift card giveaway, one mega prize giveaway each day, special guest DJs spinning music between each session and during a mixer event, and the first 200 people to register will receive a $25 Grubhub lunch voucher.
