Since then, the medical school has provided a robust pipeline of new doctors, served as聽a vital source of patient care to our community through WMed Health and made medical advances through innovative research programs. WMed offers the full continuum of undergraduate, graduate and continuing medical education in Southwest Michigan.

This May, the medical school will celebrate its first 10 years of achievements, Founding Dean Dr. Hal B. Jenson鈥檚 retirement and his legacy of innovative leadership with WMed Live: A First Decade Celebration. The live, virtual event will take place May 27 from 3:30 to 5 p.m. It will be co-hosted by Kalamazoo philanthropists and medical school benefactors Ronda E. Stryker and William D. Johnston and William U. Parfet and Barbara A. Parfet.

WMed Live will replace the medical school鈥檚 annual Imagine Gala for 2021, which has been canceled due to COVID-19 restrictions. The event will include giving opportunities to advance the mission of the medical school. As a private institution, the medical school's mission becomes a reality through the support of private gifts as well as clinical revenue, research activity, student tuition and endowment income.

In addition to WMed Live, the medical school will celebrate its first decade of achievements at events throughout 2021. A special 10th anniversary seal will commemorate the year in communications about major events.

WMed Live is open to the community, but registration is required. To register and learn more about how you can engage with WMed, visit /WMedLive2021.
