Founding Dean Dr. Hal B. Jenson closes out 2020 with a holiday message for the WMed community

As 2020 draws to a close, Founding Dean Dr. Hal B. Jenson marked the end of a “year like no other” with a holiday message celebrating the resilience, creativity, and innovation of WMed faculty, staff, residents, and students in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We’ve all had to put up with innumerable disruptions to our professional and even personal lives,” Dr. Jenson said. “Yet, through all of this, we’ve not only survived but we’ve thrived. Together, we have achieved. Together, we have overcome. We have grown much stronger and more resilient as individuals and as a medical school.

Looking ahead to 2021, the new year will mark the 10th anniversary of the medical school and Dr. Jenson’s planned retirement as founding dean. The new year will also offer the opportunity for new beginnings as we continue to overcome the challenges of 2020.

“I want to thank each of you for the privilege of being able to serve as this medical school’s founding dean,” Dr. Jenson said. “While that role may seem like the pinnacle of my career, I would say that there is one thing that is more important to me and that is that I’ve been privileged and blessed to serve with so many great individuals.”
